Multiple Choice Questions Exhibit Typing lag in all Browsers

Description:
When creating a matching question, there is lag in the VTBE when the item is more than a couple characters there are large pauses where the VTBE looks like nothing is being entered and then it will catch up.
Steps to Repeat:
  1. Log in as System Admin
  2. Go to System Admin > Courses
  3. Create a Course
  4. Go to Content > Assessments > Test
  5. Click to create a new Test
  6. Go to Create Question > Matching and type in Question Text
  7. Change the number of questions to a greater number than 4 (the more questions the more obvious the lag)
  8. Start typing in the first question
Expected Behavior:
The VTBE keeps up with your typing and if there is lag, it is very little

Observed Behavior:
There are random long lags where the text being entered takes a long time to show up in the editor
