Due to cyclical or recursive copying: duplicates of Tests, Surveys and Pools can accumulate in Original Experience Courses. Eventually, they can grow to such a level as to cause performance problems.
Steps to Repeat:
  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as an Administrator
  2. Create a Course: "course a"
  3. Create a couple of Tests, Surveys or Pools
  4. Create another Course "course b"
  5. Repeatedly Copy course "a" into "b" and "b" into "a", or copy indirectly via a third course

Observed Behavior
Over time, Duplicate Tests, Surveys or Pools accumulate significantly.

Expected Behavior
Duplicate Tests, Surveys or Pools do not accumulate to a significant degree.

Tests, Surveys or Pools ("QTI Items") can accumulate to an excessive amount. The following symptoms can occur:
  1. End-user Slowness issues in the Tests areas and related areas can happen
  2. Database ASH report shows top queries on qti_asi_data table
  3. Course Copying, Archiving and Exporting, Deletion and Bulk Delete processing time dilates
  4. Systemic performance effects are possible

It is possible to clean up severely affected courses in Oracle and SaaS hosted sites. Contact Blackboard Support for a workaround to this issue.
