LTI Deep Linking Creates Gradebook Columns with Incorrect Information

Description: When creating an LTI Placement using the "Deep Linking" Course Content Tool type, and then create a gradable item, the associated Gradebook column is automatically named "LTI Link" regardless of the given name to the content. The column is also automatically hidden from Students.

Steps to Replicate: In a SaaS Environment:

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as a System Administrator
  2. Navigate to System Admin > Building Blocks > LTI Tool Providers
  3. Click Manage Global Properties and select the following settings:
    • Creation of Tool Provider Links: Allow links to any tool provider that isn't explicitly excluded.
    • Allow configured tool providers to post grades: Yes
    • Send User DataSend user data over any connection
    • User Fields to Send
      • Role in Course
      • Name
      • Email Address
    • Click Submit
  4. Click Register Provider Domain and select the following settings:
    • Provider Domain: api.turnitin.com
    • Default Configuration: Set globally
    • Tool Provider Key: 99317
    • Tool Provider Secret: stagulta
    • Send User DataSend user data only over SSL
    • Click Submit
  5. Click the chevron next to the new Tool/Provider and select Manage Placements
  6. Click Create Placement and select the following settings:
    • Label: TII Test
    • Handle: TII
    • Availability: Yes
    • Type: Content Type
      • Placement allows grading
    • Tool Provider URLhttps://api.turnitin.com/api/lti/1p0/assignment/contentitem
  7. Create and access a Course
  8. Create two Users and Enroll them in the Course
    • Enroll one as a Student
    • Enroll the other as an Instructor
  9. Navigate to a Content Area in the Course
  10. Click Build Content > TII Test
    • Name: TII Item
    • Points Possible: 10
    • Click Submit
  11. Navigate to Grade Center > Full Grade Center

Expected Behavior:
The new column is named TII Item and is visible to Students

Observed Behavior:
The LTI Column is named LTI Link and it is hidden from Students
