Effective June 30th, 2021 the Blackboard Open Education product will no longer be supported.   
  
As a part of our commitment to delivering a portfolio of high-quality products to help our clients thrive in our complex and changing educational environment, our team has completed a full assessment of what would be required to continue developing and supporting Blackboard Open Education and we have decided to discontinue support of the product.   
  

Effective immediately, new Blackboard Open Education agreements will no longer be approved by Blackboard representatives. Effective on June 30, 2021. Blackboard Open Education will no longer be supported and will no longer be available to current users of the product.  

 Support for Blackboard Open Education will end in concurrence with the discontinue date. 
 

3. How will current Blackboard Open Education clients be impacted? 

• All current Blackboard Open Education client contracts with an expiration date beyond the end of support date will end on June 30, 2021.  

• Any client with a Blackboard Open Education contract which expires prior to the end-of-life date will have the option to terminate their contract at that time OR renew their Blackboard Open Education license through June 30, 2021. 

  • Termination of a client’s Blackboard Open Education contract does not impact the use or licensed agreement of other Blackboard products for which they are contracted. 
     

4. What are transition options for current Blackboard Open Education clients? 

Transition options for current Blackboard Open Education clients include migrating to Blackboard Learn SaaS.  Please reach to your Account Executive to discuss your transition options and plans. 
 

5. Does Blackboard offer any type of migration services for Open Education clients?  

Yes, clients may download course archives and course materials from Blackboard Open Education using the existing, built-in tooling provided within the solution.  Clients can also engage with the Blackboard Consulting group to engage in many of their available services to assist in this process.  Your Account Executive can share details about the migration services available.  We will continue to share timely information in the coming months about this process.
