Introduction:
  1. How Blackboard Open Education clients be impacted? 

All current Blackboard Open Education client contracts with an expiration date past the End of Life date will be terminated on June 30, 2021.  Any client with a Blackboard Open Education contract which expires prior to the end-of-life date will have the option to terminate their contract at that time OR renew their Blackboard Open Education license through June 30, 2021. Termination of a client’s Blackboard Open Education contract does not impact the use or licensed agreement of other Blackboard products for which they are contracted. 

  1. What is the alternative for Open Education?  

Open Education customers have the opportunity to purchase a Learn license for their online learning needs. 

  1. Do I need to pay to migrate the content on Open Education to another Learn site? 

Our consulting team can assist with migrating content from Open Education to a Learn instance. For more information, please reach out to your account executive.

  1. What will happen when Blackboard discontinues this product?  

Users will no longer be able to access courses on Open Education after June 30, 2021. Plan to migrate all data from Open Education by June 30, 2021. 

  1. Is there any additional information about what the wind-down will look like?  

New users for Open Education will not be approved, customers may continue using Open Education through the remainder of the winddown period.  

  1. Can I create a new Open Education account for my institution? 

Unfortunately, no, new users will be provided access to Open Education. 

  1. How do I download and archive courses from Open Education? 

Please see the help documentation for exporting courses.  

  1. How do I get support for my Open Education data migration? 

Reach out to your Account Executive.
