Information:

As of July 11, 2019, the Cengage Integration which allows seamless access to Cengage’s premier learning solutions including MindTap, SAM, CengageNOW, OWLv2, Aplia, 4LTR Press Online and National Geographic Learning, is now available to Learn clients with the Ultra course experience.

What you need to know:
  • The integration is available for System Administrators to enable through the Partner Cloud Settings for both Enterprise (9.1) and SaaS (Original and Ultra experiences).
IMPORTANT NOTES:
    • LTI 1.3 is a required Learn feature to support the Cengage integration.  Therefore, a minimum version of Learn is required.
    • For SaaS, the July release (3700.5) is the minimum version required.
    • For Enterprise (9.1), the upcoming 9.1 Q4 2019 is required
    • Both the SaaS 3700.5 release and the 9.1 Q4 2019 release will include the latest version of the Partner Cloud Building Block.
  • The Cengage MindLinks Building Block will continue to be available in parallel.  A migration option will be available to allow existing content using the Cengage MindLinks Building Block to be converted to use the new Cengage integration.  For more details, please reference the Migration Guide.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before disabling the Cengage MindLinks Building Block or converting to Ultra experience, content must be converted.  If conversion is not completed ahead of disabling Cengage MindLinks Building Block, the content will fail to launch appropriately for instructors and student.
  • The Cengage MindLinks Building Block and the new Cengage integration option in Partner Cloud Settings may be used in parallel.  If both integrations are configured:
    • For courses already using Cengage MindLinks Building Block:
      • Instructors: Instructors will be allowed to deploy content through the Cengage MindLinks AND also select the new Cengage Integration option within the Content Market.
      • Students: There will be no change to accessing course content as a student.
    • For courses that have not yet deployed Cengage MindLinks content from the Building Block:
      • Instructors: Instructors will only be able to deploy content through the new Cengage integration.
      • Students: There will be no change to accessing course content as a student.
  • If you are not yet ready to use the new Cengage integration and do not want instructors to see it in the Content Market, it can be hidden by selecting “No” as the option for Show Unsupported Partners that appears within the Partner Cloud Settings page. This will hide any unconfigured partners from the Content Market.  After configuring the Cengage integration, the new Cengage option will appear available to instructors.
  • The following are best practice tips for migrating course content from the existing Cengage MindLinks Building Block to the new Cengage integration:
    • Migration of ALL courses (rather than running individual courses) will also minimize instructor confusion in seeing 2 Cengage options in the Content Market.
    • Once all course migration is completed, it is recommended that the Cengage MindLinks Building Block be disabled.  This is not automatically done during the migration process.
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: After course migration is completed, grade updates will not occur for migrated content in a course until the instructor makes an initial launch to the Cengage system from the updated Cengage content.
