Blackboard Learn

Information:

Pearson's MyLab & Mastering integration is now available through Partner Cloud for Blackboard Learn clients to use.  This new Partner Cloud integration will support SaaS clients (Ultra and Original Courses), as well as Enterprise 9.1.

The Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block will continue to be available in parallel but will not work for SaaS clients with Ultra Course View.  A migration option will be available to allow existing courses with Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block content to be migrated to use the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering integration.  After migration for SaaS clients, Original Course Views can be converted to Ultra Course View.   For more information, please refer to the Partner Cloud Admin Migration Guide.

Important Notes:
  • The new Pearson MyLab & Mastering Partner Cloud integration is required to support Ultra Course View
  • Automatic grade synchronization is not available in this integration. Only manual Grade Refresh is available
  • Before converting an Original Course View course to the Ultra Course view, existing Pearson content must be migrated first.  If migration is not completed ahead of Ultra conversion, the content will no longer be available for Instructor and Student
  • To access the full set of migration features, a minimum version of Learn is required.  For SaaS, the July release (3700.5) is the minimum version required.  For 9.1 Enterprise, Q4 2019 is required, The Migration Tool is available in previous 9.1 Enterprise versions, but only allows for migration of ALL courses with MyLab & Mastering Building Block content, not individual course selection for migration.
  • Courses that rely solely on a MyLab & Mastering Tool link and do not have high-level or deep links deployed to the Content area will not be available for migration
The following are best practice tips for migrating course content from the existing Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block to the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering Partner Cloud integration:
  • Migrate ALL courses (rather than selecting/migrating individual courses)
  • Prior to migration, it is recommended that the System Administrator disables the Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block.  The Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block should remain disabled.  This is not automatically done during the migration process.  This will also minimize instructor confusion in seeing 2 Pearson options in the Content Market, which can occur if Building Block is not disabled.  If both integrations are configured:
  • For courses with content deployed through the MyLab & Mastering Building Block (meaning not migrated to the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering integration or added to a course after migration):
    • Instructors: Instructors will be allowed to deploy content through the Pearson MyLab & Mastering Building Block AND also select the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering Integration option within the Content Market
    • Students: There will be no change to accessing course content as a student
  • For courses that have not yet deployed Pearson MyLab & Mastering content from the Building Block:
    • Instructors: Instructors will only be able to deploy content through the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering integration.  No migration of content will be needed.
    • Students: There will be no change to accessing course content as a student.
  • Note:  After course migration is completed, instructor will need to complete initial launch to the Pearson system from the updated Pearson content to restore all functionality
If you are not yet ready to use the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering integration and do not want instructors to see it in the Content Market, it can be hidden by selecting No as the option for Show Unsupported Partners that appears within the Partner Cloud Settings page.  This will hide any unconfigured partners from the Content Market.  After configuring the Pearson MyLab & Mastering integration, the new Pearson MyLab & Mastering option will appear available to instructors.
