Announcement Details:

Blackboard is pleased to announce the availability of Hotfix 158v2 for Analytics for Learn to address an issue with insufficient length of fact tables surrogate keys datatype. The hotfix updates datatypes of affected columns.  This hotfix applies to Analytics for Learn versions 4.1.2 through 4.3.3.

ISSUE RESOLVED
The change of surrogate keys datatype from INT to BIGINT allows more records inserted into fact tables (it prevents error when inserting records that exceed max allowed value stored in datatype INT).  Change of nvarchar(4000) to nvarchar(100) for CourseItemTypeSourceKey column in FactCourseItemTypeSummary table will prevent warning messages when creating index to appear.

HOTFIX PROCESS
  1. Execute the SQL hotfix file script in SQL Server Management Studio on the Analytics for Learn database (iBBLA).
  2. Pay attention to warning and error messages on the output of the script.  They may inform you about additional changes that need to be done before applying hotfix code.
  3. Follow the deployment instruction from iBBLA Hotfix 158v2.docx to manually change datatype in OLAP.

HOTFIX VERIFICATION
In case that you were experiencing issues regarding the DB table sequence number was bigger than max allowed, now you should be able to run ETL process without errors regarding this problem.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This hotfix does not have any prerequisites.
