Academic Forensics Queries not Returning Useful Data

Date Published: Mar 22,2017

CategoryPlanned First Fix Release:Future Reference; Product:Database; Version:SaaS
Article No.: 000056588
Product:
Blackboard Learn
Release:
SaaS
Service Pack(s):
SaaS
Description:
Academic forensics report data generated from Ultra instances are not returning useful result sets. Previously, data was returned that could easily be associated to User activity within the System and/or Course in question. This made it clear what the User accessed and also what actions they performed. Reports generated from Ultra instances return ambiguous JavaScript that offers no definitive insight as to what actions the User actually performed.
Steps to Repeat:
  1. As an Admin, access a Learn environment instance that has the Ultra Experience enabled
  2. Create a test Course, test User, and a Content item such as an Exam
  3. Take the Exam as the test Student
  4. Run the 3 Academic Forensics queries against the database using the user_id and course_id created in step 2

Expected Behavior:
The DATA column contains useful information that determines what action the User in question performed against the system

Example:
/webapps/assessment/take/launchAssessment.jsp
/webapps/assessment/take/submitted.jsp
/webapps/assessment/review/review.jsp
In the above data, one can easily determine the user started, submitted and
also reveiwed the exam in question.

Observed Behavior:
JavaScript is returned that is not helpful in determining what resources the user accessed and what actions the user performed while logged into the system or after having accessed a course

Example:
{"handler":"resource/x-bb-asmt-test-link","title":"LA Chapters 3-5","parent":
"_10473_1","synthetic":false}
