Known Issue: PowerPoint Import Issues with Office 2016 and Mac Operating Systems

Product:
Collaborate -Web Conferencing
Service Pack(s):
Web Conferencing
Issue Description:
Changes in Microsoft Office 2016 on a Mac will now require the User to explicitly grant access for the temporary PowerPoint file and the Folder in which the conversion is taking place.

Symptoms:

Users will receive several Pop-Up windows advising that additional permissions are required to access the temporary files that the PowerPoint Conversion Utility is using to import a PowerPoint file into Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing. Often the first prompt gets hidden behind the PowerPoint program Window and may not be visible to the User.  If these prompts are not responded to in a timely manner the Conversion Utility will time out and the conversion will fail.

Resolution/Workaround:

The workaround for this is to answer these Pop-Up permission requests in a timely manner. If the user delays in responding to these requests the Conversion Utility will time out and the conversion will fail.  There are four Permission Requests.  In each case all the user needs to do is click on the "Select" button or "Grant Access" button in the bottom right hand portion of the window to proceed.

Prompt 1

First Permission Prompt

Click on the "Select" button to proceed.

Prompt 2

Click on the "Grant Access" Button to continue

Prompt 3

Click on the "Select" Button to continue.

Prompt 4

Click on the "Grant Access" button to continue

At this point the conversion should continue normally without any further interruption.
