Collaborate - Schoology Integration via LTI

Prework
You will require the LTI URL, Consumer Key, and Secret to continue. If you do not have this information, please contact technical support in a case to request this information: https://behind.blackboard.com

Configure LTI external tool at the institution-level:

  1. Click System Settings on the left menu of the System Admin home page
  2. Click Integration (directly below System Settings) in the left navigation menu
  3. Select External Tools tab at the top of the page
  4. Click Add External Tool Provider
  5. Fill out the necessary information in the pop-up window:
    • Tool Name - This is the name educators see when adding external tools to their courses.
    • Consumer Key 
    • Shared Secret 
    • Privacy - choose Send Name and Email
    • Configuration Type - Choose Manual
    • Match By - Choose URL
    • Domain/URL - input the Collaborate LTI Launch Link 
    • Custom Parameters - leave blank
  6. Click Submit
Deploy the external tool within a course
  1. Navigate to the Course
  2. Click Materials on the left menu in the course
  3. Click Add Materials
  4. Select Add File/Link/External Tool
  5. Choose External Tool.
  6. Select the tool provider—if configured beforehand—and enter the required information.
Please note
You may see a link to Blackboard Collaborate in the Schoology course navigation menu.  Upon clicking this link, you may see an error  that says "tool not configured."  In Schoology, there is a second way to deploy Blackboard Collaborate Original (now deprecated), please configure Blackboard Collaborate with the LTI external tool.
