Ultra Assessments: Wrong Rounding in Calculated Questions

Date Published: Jun 18,2021

CategoryPlanned First Fix Release:SaaS - v3900.17.0; Product:Learn; Version:Ultra
Article No.: 000075444
Product:
Blackboard Learn
Release:
SaaS
Service Pack(s):
Ultra
Description:
Calculating formula questions does not round numbers correctly when there are 3 decimals or more in Ultra courses. For example, when multiplying 4.225 x 7 (2dp), the answer is 29.575 (3dp) but rounding should make this 29.58. However, the test indicates that the correct answer is 29.57 and grades the correct answer as incorrect as a result.
Steps to Repeat:
  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as Administrator
  2. Navigate to > Content > Click on > Create and add a test
  3. Click on the Assessment content plus sign and add a question
  4. Select > Calculated Formula Question
  5. Add a question text like, answer the result of 4.225 x 7
  6. Add the formula for making the calculation (4.225 x7)
  7. On next, Normal select > Rounding - decimal places-2
  8. Add and automated feedback in order to know the outcome of the test

Observed Behavior: The good answer is the truncated value, not rounded (29.57)
Expected Behavior: The result is 29.58, as general rule rounding 29.575
